one long night
Accused child molester Charles Raymond Whitehead is released from prison by a misguided judge. After his release, another child goes missing from a tight-knit ethnic neighborhood and Detective Steve McKenna suspects Whitehead for the disappearance. McKenna also suspects some locals may take matters into their own hands. The cop is right on both counts . . . but can he prove it?
Dan Madigan, a childhood friend of McKenna’s, is upset at Whitehead’s early release and enraged by what he’s sure must be another Whitehead victim. Dan hatches a scheme to even the score. What drives a man to rescue someone he has no connection to and seek vengeance against a criminal he’s never met? Even his best friends aren’t sure, but they go along, hoping to stop him before it’s too late.
As events unfold, the pieces start to fall into place for Detective McKenna . . . and he doesn’t like what he sees. Fighting a conflict between friendship and duty, he continues the hunt, both pissing-off and terrifying his old friends as he closes in. In the end, McKenna may have the evidence he needs to put his prey behind bars. The question is . . . will he use it?

“One Long Night was as hard to put down and was as enjoyable a read as any of my favorite James Patterson or Robert B. Parker novels. Excellent read!”

“Tony builds the characters quickly yet thoroughly with the story moving right from page one! This book really makes you think about what you would do and how you might handle the situation. Being a native Rhode Islander it was fun to read about familiar places and names.”

“Touchy subject with a group of everyday friends who take on the bad guy and come out heroes! Great book, especially if you know the RI and MA area!”

“DiBona's writing is crisp, his characters full-bodied and the narrative fast-paced and laced with just the right amount of wiseguy, ball-busting humor to offset the suspense and drama that continues to build right up to and including the show-stopper ending.”

“If you love a mystery with twists and turns around every corner, this is the book for you! … I could not put the book down. It is set in Massachusetts and Rhode Island (where I am from) so it made it that much more interesting knowing the landmarks, roads, stores, etc. he was referring to.”
